Thick acrylic paint is built layer by layer on a wood panel, and then carved away to reveal the intricate details of each petal — delicate and complex. This piece is the epitome of the stunning Southern magnolia trees, showing off the luscious, creamy petals we all know and love.
The top layer is a deep green that was carefully mixed to match the colour of the magnolia leaves. Each layer underneath is a small variation of cream, to match the variance of colour of the magnolia petals. In total, five thick layers of acrylic paint make up this beautiful one of a kind carved painting.
This hexagon shaped carved painting makes a grand statement in an intimate space, or would balance out all the square angles on a gallery wall.
